Summer Missionary/Intern from Westmoreland County, PA
“When I went to my first training camp it was pretty cool to see a lot of people around my age coming to learn the curriculum to teach 5 Day Club’s throughout the summer. While they first started teaching me it was hard to catch on, but eventually I got it! All of the teachers did a great job with what they taught. I met a lot of people striving to serve God with all of their heart, which was pretty awesome to see! When I went to my first 5 Day Club, I remember seeing the children’s faces as they sang songs, listened to stories, and played games. I thought to myself God is doing great things through all of us. Later on in our first week we talked about how God used us and the wonderful things we saw Him do. I replied that we went into this wanting to bless others but in return we were the ones being blessed. A year ago while doing a 5 Day Club, I met a girl named Cladia who was deaf. She came with her older sister Savannah. While we had club she would sign to her sister what was going on. Since I had 2 years of sign language I was able to sign with her but it was very minimal. As the week progressed my crew and I were able to sign better because we watched Cladia and her sister sign. Even the other kids were picking up on it! One of the things I enjoyed was getting out of my comfort zone and just letting the Lord have His lead, cause so many times I have missed the opportunity to share the gospel and the CEF material has helped me feel more confident in how I would approach someone. I am very thankful for that!”
